Madison's city flag was recently voted one of the best flags in the country in a survey conducted by NAVA, the North American Vexillological Association. This print reveals the geographic references that the various forms on the flag represent: the blue triangles represent Lake Mendota and Lake Monona; the diagonal white stripe represents the Isthmus; the central black cross-form mimics the building footprint of the Wisconsin State Capitol building with the central yellow circle referencing its dome.
